Here we explain in further details the learning journey undertaken for an individual word or knowledge item.
When a learner takes a pre-test, a word or knowledge item will be classified as one of the following:
- "Knew word": the learner got this word was correct in their pre-test
- "Learning": the learner for this word was incorrect in their pre-test
When a learner reaches their post-test, a word or knowledge item will be classified as one of the following:
STATUS |
EXPLANATION OF STATIS |
RETEACH OR RECAP |
KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER |
"Knew word" |
correct in the pre-test and correct post-test |
END (word will not be re-served) |
"I already know" column |
"Learning" |
correct in the pre-test and incorrect in the post-test |
enters the reteach queue |
"I am learning" column |
"Learning" |
incorrect in the pre-test and incorrect in the post-test |
enters the reteach queue |
"I am learning" column |
"Learnt" |
incorrect in the pre-test, correct in the post-test |
enters the recap queue |
"I have learned" column |
When a word/knowledge item is served to the learner at reteaching stage, the word/knowledge item will be classified as one of the following:
STATUS AT RETEACH |
CORRECT OR INCORRECT? |
RETEACHING / RECAPPING |
KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER |
"Learning" |
correct |
Word becomes "learnt" and enters to recap queue |
"I have learned" column |
"Learning" |
incorrect |
Word stays at "learning" and re-enters the reteach queue |
"I am learning" column |
When a word/knowledge item is served to the learner at reteaching stage, the word/knowledge item will be classified as one of the following:
STATUS AT RETEACH |
CORRECT OR INCORRECT? |
RETEACHING / RECAPPING |
KNOWLEDGE ORGANISER |
"Learnt" |
correct |
Word stays "learnt" - this is the end of the journey for this word |
"I have learned" column |
"Learnt" |
incorrect |
Word status changes to "learning", enters the reteach queue, and the cycle starts again. |
"I am learning" column |
NOTE: The Bedrock algorithm works in the above ways, meaning that a word or knowledge item may resurface many times for a learner. This is intentional and ensure knowledge is solidified.
